our Chairman

TTC was founded in 1920 in the small fishing village of Paternoster, South Africa. From these humble beginnings, we have grown into a portfolio of 40 travel brands, built on one founding principle: Driven by Service. We always have kept our guests at the centre of everything we do. Every trip or ship we plan. Every hotel room we create. Every decision we make.

This belief has been shaped by and realised thanks to; Our People. Our Passion. Our Purpose. These three essentials are the essence that make TTC, TTC. Collectively these have made us unique. They fashioned our past but vitally they inform our future.

Today, TTC is comprised of some of the best travel brands. Each is immensely passionate about sharing the world with its guests. We simply love travel. It’s always been less about something we say and more about something we feel. It shines through in the way that we are and the things that we do, driving us to go deeper and look further. That extra mile. As we always say, “never shirking a journey”.

We live and breathe travel so that our guests can fulfil their travel dreams, through our extensive collection of exceptional travel experiences whether on our our guided tours, luxury river cruises, safaris and in our hotels. We are confident that we can match almost all travellers to their perfect holiday.

And as we look into a future for travel, TTC is committed to ensuring that the travel experiences we offer are a force for good. That travel is as positive for the visited as it is for the visitor. To achieve this, we have transparently set out measurable and actionable sustainability goals.

In September 2020, we launched TTC’s five-year sustainability strategy,  How We Tread Right (HWTR), which was created to ensure our brands continue to progress to MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® through our travel experiences, the way we operate and with support from our not-for-profit foundation, TreadRight.

We purposefully create meaningful experiences which connect our guests with the places they explore. Our innovative and trademarked MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experiences, are conscious travel experiences, crafted to positively support local communities, wildlife and the planet.

Our HWTR strategy’s 11 Goals are focused on advancing at least one or more of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In addition, the TreadRight Foundation supports these SMART goals through giving, and has invested in 60+ sustainable tourism projects across 280+ communities worldwide.
