TORONTO – Nov. 25, 2016 – The Travel Corporation (TTC), parent company of Lion World Travel and 29 other award-winning brands, is pleased to announce several senior promotions in its adventure division. Lucille Sive has been promoted to The Travel Corporation Africa Division CEO, and former Contiki president Brad Ford to president of Lion World Travel.

Sive, affectionately known in the travel industry as “The African Queen,” has been at the helm of award-winning Lion World Travel, the affordable luxury Africa safari specialist, for more than 30 years. In her newly created role, Sive will be responsible for the continued growth and development of the Lion World Travel and African Travel Inc. brands in Canada and the United States.

“I am honoured to be recognized by Brett Tollman and the Tollman family for my contributions in such a meaningful way. I am pleased to continue to offer my experience and passion to the dynamic teams of the Lion World Travel and African Travel, Inc. brands, and look forward to contributing to the future success of TTC’s Africa offering,” said Sive.

Fresh off a five-month sabbatical traveling the globe, Ford joins Lion World Travel as president, working closely with Sive. Ford is a travel industry executive with 20 years experience, and has travelled and worked across South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Egypt and Zimbabwe. Prior to his new appointment, Ford had led Contiki Canada, the globally renowned best youth travel company, part of TTC since 1989, for more than six years.

“I am delighted to work with Lucille in her new role. Her mentorship and direction will be invaluable,” said Ford. “For more than 50 years, Lion World Travel has distinguished itself as the leader in the affordable luxury Africa safari category, and I recently had the opportunity to experience Botswana and Zimbabwe in superb style with Lion World Travel. I am very excited to join a team that far exceeded my own expectations in delivering luxury Africa in style.”

Also promoted is long-time Lion World Travel executive Leeann Phayre-Mallo to director, product and operations. Leeann will now oversee all Lion World Travel business processes, customer engagement and product delivery to travel agent partners and clients across North America.

“We are so pleased to promote these three talented, deserving and long-standing executives into their new roles,” said TTC’s chief executive officer Brett Tollman. “Our company is a firm believer in promoting from within, one of our hallmarks of success from nearly 100 years in business. This remarkable travel industry we are in has some brilliant, hard working individuals and we are very fortunate to work with a good number of them. Our Canadian team makes us very proud everyday and we are so fortunate to have Lucille continue to lead our African division, to be able to promote Brad into the exciting new role for him and to reward Leeann with this opportunity. We wish them all much success, happiness and good health in their new roles.”
