Brett Tollman, The Travel Corporation’s Chief Executive, Receives “Travel Entrepreneur Of The Year” Award
Prestigious Award by TTG Asia recognises most outstanding trend-setting travel professional in the region
SINGAPORE, 30 September 2016 – The Travel Corporation’s (TTC) Chief Executive, Brett Tollman was awarded “Travel Entrepreneur of the Year” at the recent TTG Travel Awards 2016. The prestigious award by TTG Asia, a leading trade publication, recognises the most outstanding trend-setting travel professional in the region. The 2016 awards ceremony and gala dinner took place on 29 September at the Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre’s World Ballroom in Bangkok, Thailand.
The TTG Travel Awards recognises leaders in the Asia-Pacific travel sector. Since the awards first began in 1989, this celebrated event has grown significantly in terms of participation from the industry and is now recognised as the most coveted and influential travel industry awards to be won in Asia-Pacific. Mr Kwek Leng Beng, Executive Chairman for Hong Leong Group Singapore was the most recent previous recipient for the “Best Travel Entrepreneur of the Year”, a non-voting category where winners are determined by TTG Asia’s editorial team.
TTC’s Chief Executive Brett Tollman has over 35 years’ experience in travel and tourism, and is currently also Vice-Chair of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC.org). TTC is a privately-owned, family-run travel organisation that has grown significantly over the past 40 years. Well diversified and entrepreneurially run, the company-wide philosophy of being “Driven by Service” to all of its guests, ensures “Happy staff make happy guests, which makes happy owners”.
Starting with just one small hotel in South Africa three generations ago, today TTC has over 30 brands operating in 70 countries, enabling almost two million customers a year to enjoy a fantastic, diverse range of high quality holiday styles, be they independent or guided, luxury travel and hotels, safaris or river cruises. This award is deeply meaningful to me, as my father, and Chairman, always brought me up to think and act entrepreneurially,” said Mr Brett Tollman, Chief Executive, TTC and founder of the company’s TreadRight Foundation.
“Over the past five years, TTC has placed more emphasis and focus on Asia as there has been a pivot from the West to the East. Asia is TTC’s fastest growing outbound market, contributing 10 per cent of the group’s revenue. Most recently, TTC has also expanded its inbound product offering to include holidays to China, Japan, and other South East Asian countries including Singapore and Thailand.” added Mr Tollman.
